Terms and Policies

Matting Policy

For their welfare, your dog may need to be clipped short to safely and humanely remove matting.

This will incur an extra matting fee on top of your groom price due to the extra time and care needed to remove matting safely. It ranges from £5 for small matts like behind the ears up to £25 for severe matting.

For your dog’s welfare, if they are continually matted I may have to refuse your groom where a suitable schedule cannot be kept up. Where additional brushing is required for knots it may also incur an additional charge. If this is a reoccurring issue it may benefit your dog to have a shorter haircut to help you manage your dog’s coat more effectively.

Matted fur also blunts my equipment and blades faster, which causes them to need replacing and sharpening more frequently.

Matting is uncomfortable for your dog and their skin may be red, sore, and irritated due to their skin not being able to breathe beneath the matts. It is also common for your pet to be itchy after these are removed, due to the air being on skin again. Please try to keep a close eye on your pets after their appointment to prevent them from itching areas excessively as this could cause further issues and sores.

Matts also increase the chances of nicks and cuts from the blade due to the matting being so tight to the skin and pulling it.

Any injuries or concerns will be reported straight away to the owner and again upon pick up of your dog. As well as all necessary precautions to follow after their session to make and keep your pooch comfortable.

Aggressive dogs

It is very important to disclose any information about your dog’s behaviour to me before booking an appointment.

This is to ensure I have the right precautions in place, and allow extra time. If extra time is needed there will be an additional charge but the aim is to build confidence so we can work towards this being a temporary situation, although this isn’t always possible and some dogs may require extra time for every groom. I am also happy to offer “meet and greet” sessions to establish a bond- which has helped for several dogs I groom.

Chargeable at £20 for every additional 30 minutes per grooming session. This will be spoken about after my first session with them.

I am happy to accept and work with some behavioural issues, but if they are too extensive I may have to refuse service for mine and the dog’s welfare. As I am a solo groomer it is important that I keep myself safe in the enclosed grooming area.

Brushing

Matting can be prevented by daily brushing with a slicker brush and comb, and practising line brushing to ensure you are sufficiently getting right down to the skin. Which is where the matting starts.

Unfortunately, every time your dogs coat is brushed out from matting or knots it can damage the follicle, essentially causing breakage. This compromises their coat condition and will mean that the coat will matt up more quickly due to these “split ends”. If knotting is a regular occurrence your dog may need to have a shorter haircut to help manage this.

Keeping to a regular 6-8 weeks schedule is a good period of tie to stick to for long haired breeds. Additionally you could include a maintenance bath and blow-dry every 2-4 weeks between grooms to ensure your dogs coat and welfare are tip top condition. This also allows for your desired haircut to be achievable.

I am happy to explain and demonstrate the correct way to brush your dog and the tools to use for their coat type and suggest a grooming schedule that suits you and your dog.

Flea/Tick Policy

All dogs that are booked in with me are required to be sufficiently flea’d and wormed before being booked in for an appointment.

If you suspect your dog to have fleas please do not bring them in for their appointment, please let me know as soon as possible and we can reschedule the appointment until they are completely clear.

You will be refused service, and will be turned away upon arrival if fleas are found, and charged the full groom amount, as it goes against my policy and poses a risk to other pets, like my own and the salon, and I would be at a loss as a business.

If fleas are found once in the bath an additional £15 fee will added to your total, and you will be contacted immediately. Due to the need for specialised flea shampoo, extra cleaning and fumigation of the salon afterwards.

It is also important to not have your dog groomed or bathed 48 hours before or after putting on any topical preventative flea treatments, as this affects the effectiveness of the treatment.

For removal of ticks, this is chargeable at £5 for me to safely remove and dispose of the tick if found on your dog at their appointment.

Cancellation Policy

I require 48 hours notice if you need to change or cancel your appointment.

If you cancel after the given time period this will result in a non-refundable deposit of £15. A new deposit will be required to secure a new booking with me.

Cancellations on the day of the appointment and no shows will be chargeable at full groom price. Clients who fail to pay this fee will not be provided any future appointments.

I understand things pop up and emergencies are unavoidable, but if you cannot make your appointment please let me know as soon as possible so the appointment can be offered to someone else on my waitlist.

If any outstanding funds are not paid off, no matter how small or large, you will not be offered a new appointment in the future until these have been settled.

Late fees

This applies to both dropping off and picking up your dog.

As being late to your appointment time can affect my other appointments for that day.

Please stick to your agreed time slot, as these are given for a reason, due to how busy I get and not having a kennel I physically do not have the space to hold dogs between these slots.

Lateness is chargeable at: 10 minutes at £5, 15 minutes at £10, 20 minutes at £15.An extra £5 will also be added for every additional 5 minutes thereafter.

If lateness becomes a recurring problem clients may be asked to find an alternative groomer, as unfortunately I cannot accommodate for this.

Photos and Videos

Upon booking an appointment with me, you will be given the option to accept or decline the taking and use of photographs and videos of your dog.

If you accept, you accept that these can and may be used for my social media and business purposes. Your personal details will never be shared.
